Another advantages are: better documentation, improved console interface, more user friendly gui shell.

aria2: 0.16.0 released
2008-10-06
aria2 is a utility for downloading files. The supported protocols are HTTP(S),FTP,BitTorrent,Metalink. It can download a file from multiple sources/protocols and tries to utilize your maximum download bandwidth.
This release adds Firefox3 Cookie support and the ability to select fastest
server(URI) using the download speed observed in the previous downloads and
the ability to get timestamp from remote server and apply it to local file.
The option to specify the connect timeout has been added.
netrc is now used for HTTP.
Please note that *.aria2 file and dht.dat file are changed in this
release and they are upward-compatible. This means that this release
can resume downloads initiated by older version of aria2, but the
opposite is not true and this new build only saves data in a new format.
